Permanent Visa for Foreigners Who Works in Brazil
The Ministry of Justice recently announced changes in how to change temporary visas to permanent visas for foreigners with permanent employment in Brazil. Now, the application may be made by any person who has an employment contract with a duration of two years. Formerly it was necessary four years (two extendable for two more). The adjustments were based on the opinion of the Attorney General of the Union (AGU), from analysis of labor legislation. The new rule, disclosed in press release, if the employee and the company wish to extend the contract of employment shall require, by the Federal Police Department, the transformation of temporary visas into permanent visas with at least 30 days prior to the end the original deadline. The change also applies to foreigners who have completed the first two years of bonding and obtaining a renewal for two more.
